Bernice Clement McLaughlin ’49, lifelong resident of Ransomville, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the Briody Health Care Facility in Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Bernice was born December 14, 1928 in Ransomville, the daughter of the late Robert and Bernice Cora (Glenn) Clement. She had attended Roberts Wesleyan Junior College in North Chili. Bernice married William McLaughlin on October 28, 1950 and her main job became raising her family. She had worked as a secretary/assistant for Dr. Piazza and for Niagara Sightseeing in Niagara Falls.
Bernice was very active in the Ransomville United Methodist Church. She served as Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, and member of the United Methodist Women. She also was an American Red Cross Volunteer. She is survived by her husband, William; her five children, Joanne Nemecek, John (Janet), David (Cindi), and Bruce (Stephanie) McLaughlin, and Mary (William Anthony) Evans; a brother, Robert (Jackie) Clement; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a half-sister, Marion Frey and a half-brother, Donald Matice.
