David C. Morrow ’47 passed away on January 2, 2018. A resident of Rock Hill, South Carolina, David came to Chesbrough as a student but was drafted into the war after his first year of school. After the war, in 1947, he completed his studies at Roberts Junior College, then enrolled at the University of Rochester and later at The College at Brockport. In 1968, President Voller, whom he had called for a reference, asked him if he would have lunch with him. It was at that lunch that Dr. Voller convinced Dave to join the community at Roberts Wesleyan College. He served as the Director of Admissions, as well as in the Development Office and as Dean of Students until the early eighties. It would be an understatement to say that Dave was an employee of Roberts. Rather, he was a champion of Roberts Wesleyan College, particularly of our students. Dave and his beloved wife, Jean, were adopted parents to hundreds of kids – the Roberts students and even staff, were truly their very own. We were pleased to honor Dave with the President’s Award of Excellence at the May 2017 Circle Banquet. A local service to honor Dave will be held in the Spring; details will be provided as soon as they are finalized.
