The Department of Teacher Education invites applications for one Assistant/Associate Professor of Education position that begins either January 1, 2025 or July 1, 2025. The appointee(s) will be either a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor or a Lecturer depending on earned degrees and professional experience.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications include:
- An earned doctorate (in progress or ABD will be considered) in a relevant educational field for the Assistant/Associate Professor
- Professional teaching certification
- A record of at least five years of effective teaching at the elementary, middle, and/or secondary level
- A commitment to engage in professional development, expand knowledge in the field, and engage in education-related scholarship
- A commitment to supporting the mission of the Teacher Education Programs
Preferred qualifications include:
- Specialized K-12 expertise in special education, OR expertise in literacy
- Experience teaching in online or hybrid environments
- Experience in advising students
Candidates must be able to teach a wide variety of education courses to undergraduate and graduate students in traditional and nontraditional programs. Depending on the program, courses are taught in person or online.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of all faculty at Roberts Wesleyan University is teaching. There is also the potential for leadership roles. Additional faculty responsibilities include serving on department and university committees, advising teacher education students, supervising student teachers, collaborating to develop new programs and community partnerships, and preparing for accreditation. Promotion and tenure at the University are based on achievement across four broad categories: teaching, scholarship, profession-related activity, and service.
Department of Teacher Education:
The Department of Teacher Education is one of the largest departments at Roberts Wesleyan University with over 200 undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate education majors include Early Childhood/Special Education, Childhood/Special Education, Adolescence Education, K-12 TESOL Education, K-12 Music Education, K-12 Art Education, and K-12 Physical Education. The Department offers M.Ed. programs leading to initial certification in Early Childhood/Special Education, Childhood/Special Education, and Adolescence/Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist, and M.Ed. programs leading to professional certification in Literacy and Special Education. The Department also offers a post-Masters certificate for TESOL. The M.Ed. in Special Education is a fully online program. The Department also offers a non-traditional cohort-based modular program called Pathway to Teaching which is a degree-completion program that leads to initial certification at the childhood or adolescent level.
