Floyd E. Totman ’53, 90, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Willowbrook at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill, SC. Born February 26, 1927 in Belona, NY, Mr. Totman was the son of the late Ted Totman and Eleanor Swarthout Totman. He was a graduate of Phelps High School in Phelps, NY and Houghton College with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Voice in 1950. He received a Masters in Music Education from The State University of New York, Fredonia in 1962. As well as being a soloist, he participated in musical productions with organizations such as The Rochester Oratorio Society, Rochester Musical Theater, Taylor Instrument Chorus, Rochester Youth for Christ, Pearce Memorial Church Choir and UNCA Community Chorus, Asheville, NC. He also taught vocal music in New York State Public Schools for 27 years.  Mr. Totman married Virginia Blowers in 1952 and moved from North Chili, NY to Asheville, NC in 1982 and to Rock Hill, SC in 2001. In addition to his wife, Mr. Totman is survived by his son, Gregory Totman of Weaverville, NC; his daughter, Jill Totman of Weaverville, NC; his sisters, Trudy Durand and Florence Chantreuil; his sister-in-law, Mrs. George Totman; and several nieces and nephews.
