“Tradition, which is always old, is at the same time ever new because it is always reviving – born again in each new generation, to be lived and applied in a new and particular way.”— Thomas Merton

We have enjoyed such an exciting year on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary! To plan and participate in the many events surrounding our 150th year has been both exhilarating and unforgettable. I have learned so much about our founder and his friends, about the leaders who cultivated his dream, and about the thousands of students whose lives were transformed by being here. The stories are amazing!

It is even more exciting, however, to imagine how the College and Seminary can be “born again” in our generation. To consider how our traditions can be made new to meet the needs of our current and future students. We will be anchored in our faith while exploring how we can proactively engage in today’s world, ensuring that our graduates are well-equipped to respond to the needs of the communities they serve. Because of our core identity, we have a solid foundation and the freedom to adapt to the changes around us with fresh and new approaches to our work.

These pages show some of the exciting new things happening at Roberts and Northeastern — I believe this is the best year yet! Thanks to the partnership and support of our alumni, friends and supporters, we can expect and plan for even more new and improved programs to better serve our students. We can offer scholarship assistance, continuing to make education affordable. We can strategically map out, and then implement, our priorities for an engaged campus culture, innovative growth and transformational partnerships.

During 2017, our 151st year, and on into the years ahead, we will continue to honor our deep roots. But, with your help, we will continue that rich legacy with our eyes looking ahead, ready and willing to live out the call of Christ while meeting the needs of our students today and in the years to come.

Building on hope,
