Jean P. Boyle ’95 (Management of Human Resources), aged 76, died peacefully with her children by her side on December 10, 2017 at Highland Hospital, after a brief struggle with cancer. Jean was born January 17, 1941 in Duquesne, PA, the daughter of Peter Paul Pope and Zella Orris. Jean had a fantastic sense of humor, joking with her daughter, friends and nurses until her very last days. She was an avid gardener who always started her days with coffee, the newspaper and a smile. Jean thoroughly enjoyed going to shows, concerts and musicals with her many friends. When she wasn’t busy at Zumba classes or entertaining her neighbors with parties and dinners, Jean loved to read while overlooking her beautiful gardens. Jean graduated from Duquesne High School and earned a bachelor’s degree at Roberts Wesleyan College. She worked for St. Mary’s Church in Downtown Rochester, then spent the last 20 years of her career at Valley Manor Apartments as director of development and as arts curator for the 1570 Gallery. She loved all of the residents and had a special affinity for the elderly. In addition to raising her two children, Jean loved spending time with her two cats, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, helping others and traveling. Her most recent trip included a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Jean is survived by her daughter, Rebecca L. Boyle (Dr. Joseph Viola) of Penfield; son, Kevin S. Boyle, Sr. (Elizabeth), grandsons, Kevin Jr. and Sean Patrick, of Houston, TX; and Gerald T. Boyle of Batavia, the father of her children. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Geva Theatre Center.
