Update from the Academic Dean's Office
The faculty are looking forward to meeting fully in person for most of our fall classes. Zoom has been a helpful tool, but face-to-face learning builds a community that enhances learning. Some key recent academic highlights are the following:
- 35 Honors students are currently in Puerto Rico as the culminating event in their Global Honors Program. This is the first student trip of this sort in the last 18 months.
- The Occupational Therapy Doctoral program was formally registered with New York State in May, with our accreditors (ACOTE) granting the program candidacy status. These changes allow us to officially accept students into the OTD program, with 12 deposited for the fall to date. Renovations for the OTD lab facilities in Smith Hall are close to completion.
- Our Masters of Social Work (MSW) program is #1 in NYS among all MSW programs for Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) exam pass rates for 2020! This is evidence of a strong program (with wonderful leadership and faculty) and a great way to recruit and promote our new online program. Our pass rates over the past eight years are almost all higher than the national average for both the LMSW and the Licensed Master Social Worker (LSCW) exams!
