Roberts Virtual Panel to Discuss Attracting and Retaining Quality Employees
Roberts Wesleyan College will host a virtual fall leadership breakfast, “Navigating the Great Resignation: How to Attract and Retain Quality Employees,” from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19. The event, which is part of the college’s biannual leadership series, will feature a panel of local business leaders discussing how companies can find quality candidates for open positions, retain superior employees, boost morale and transform workplace culture amid a trend of increased job resignations that impact almost every industry.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported a record 4.3 million Americans (2.9% of the workforce) quit their jobs in August 2021. At the end of August, there were also 10.4 million job openings around the country. With more job openings than unemployed workers, individuals have incredible advantages as they pursue a better fit.
Featured panelists, including Heritage Christian Services CEO Marisa Geitner, Mary Cariola Center President/CEO Karen Zandi and Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Senior Manager, Talent Strategy, Workforce Development & Education Initiatives Adrian Hale, they will discuss how organizations and leaders can respond to these challenges, providing tangible examples and strategies implemented at their own organizations. Geitner and Zandi were both recently named 2021 Circle of Excellence honorees by the Rochester Business Journal for their leadership in the Greater Rochester community.
The event will kick off with a panel interview moderated by Dr. Carrie Starr, executive director of the Community Institutes at Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during the presentation and network during breakout sessions.
