Roberts Performs The Secret Garden
Roberts Wesleyan University’s Theatre program is proud to present The Secret Garden.
Orphaned Mary Lennox arrives in England to live with her uncle, whom she's never met. She discovers there's more to her new home than meets the eye as she makes friends and opens her mind to the world around her. Fun for the whole family; based on the beloved childhood classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
“I chose this play because it was one of my favorite books growing up,” says the director, Shawnda Urie, our adjunct theatre professor. “The story of a lonely girl who makes friends and learns how to grow things really resonated with me, especially after the pandemic. It feels like we're getting a chance to really blossom again.”
Nick Evans, a freshman playing Colin Craven, says, “Being in this play helps me connect with people from all over campus that I wouldn’t have been with otherwise.”
