Dimitra Gkizani '22 (Chemistry) is playing professional basketball this summer for the Sunbury Jets in Australia. The center, originally from Athens, is a star at the local level in Melbourne.
After her graduation from Roberts, she signed to play with GAS Eunikos in Greece. They described her as a strong player who's not afraid to shoot the ball and a great rebounder for offense and defense. She can also dominate the inside both offensively and defensively.
"I'm glad I was part of that special group," said Gkizani of her experience at Roberts. In 2021, when she was a junior at Roberts, the women's basketball team won the East Coast Conference Championship for the first time in program history. She was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance in the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Roberts women’s basketball finished the season with a 12-7 record, an East Coast Conference title and Sweet 16 appearance, becoming the program's most decorated basketball team in the Division II era.
