Roberts Hosts Athletic Preview Day
“Welcome to Roberts, future student athletes!”
On August 7th, Roberts Wesleyan University’s Admissions department teamed up with the Athletics department to welcome over 40 high school students and their families to campus.
“When I was trying to find my college, it was important to me to feel comfortable in the athletics department, like I belonged. I believe having this Athletic Preview Day is the perfect way for you student athletes to explore campus, meet with coaches, and ask questions,” said Jenn Suhr ‘04 (Psychology) as she welcomed families to campus. “I would want that if I was looking for a college.”
“The initial feeling of support and kindness when I first visited Roberts is what led me to choose this university. I have no doubt the attendees of Athletic Preview Day will feel this, too.”
And so they did. Visitors gushed, “Very friendly and professional! I like meeting the team and my coach.”
The agenda included a welcome question-and-answer session between Jenn Suhr '04, Assistant Coach Track & Field; Pole Vault and Bob Segave '06, '13, Executive Director of Athletics. Families were then taken on a tour of the athletics department.
Before lunch, students learned all about NCAA II compliance. They were then introduced to their future coaches and professors. After lunch and breakout sessions, the day ended with select students trying out for their sport.
A parent who attended said, “The staff, coaches, and faculty were all very friendly. What a great day!”
