David Brown Headshot

David Brown '90 (Business Administration) is not only a CEO you should know but also living proof of Roberts graduates making a difference in the world.

Brown is the CEO and president of the Capital Region YMCA with more than 1,400 employees and 1,200 volunteers. Brown graduated from Roberts and was looking for a job and the opportunity came from his next-door neighbor, Ron Sargent, for a job at the Rochester YMCA. Sargent was a mentor to him and encouraged him to follow his passion to work at the YMCA. Brown started as a Youth Director, a position that he immediately fell in love with.

Shaping and Serving the Community
As the CEO of the YMCA, Brown has established housing for 165 men and 65 Senior citizens in Schenectady, NY. "The Capital District YMCA assists with food insecurity; diversity, equity, and inclusion, helping new immigrants assimilate by giving them supplies and resources to help ease their transition. For Brown, it is extremely rewarding to see the difference they make, especially considering the YMCA is largely volunteer-based."
