Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges"
During the second week in January, as the nation celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Roberts Wesleyan University will remember and recognize Dr. King at a special event from the Office of Diversity and Belonging, Spiritual Life, and Student Life. The event will be held on Jan. 15.
"Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges" will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through performances from the Roberts Wesleyan University Gospel Choir and these undergraduate and graduate students: Tonia Demosthene, Joanna Shamenda, Alyssa Coleman, Ruth Michel, and Jaylah Wilson.
Dr. Robert Chawell is this year's guest speaker. He is the Executive Director of Family & Student Services and Inclusivity for the Webster Central School District, a Steering Committee Member of the Monroe County Regional Equity Network, and a New York State Education Department DEI Leader Advisory Group member. David Douglass '26 from the Student Association Leadership Team will speak at the event, too.
The Roberts and Northeastern communities are invited to join us for this celebration on Jan. 15 in the Golisano Community Engagement Center. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm; the program starts at 7 pm.
