All In for Making Meaningful Contributions to Social Work.

Dr. Andrew Irish '14 (Master of Social Work) is an alumnus making meaningful contributions to the profession through research and teaching social work in higher education. 
 
Irish has been an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at West Virginia University since 2022. He completed his Master of Social Work at Roberts with a concentration in Mental Health in 2014. After he graduated from Roberts, he completed his PhD in Social Welfare at the University at Buffalo (UB). Irish was a presidential fellow at UB and received the Graduate Award for Research, Scholarship, and Creativity. 
 
At West Virginia University, his current research interests are:
  • Economic Inequality and Health
  • Substance Use/Misuse and Recovery
  • Mental Health & Suicidality
