Roberts Wesleyan University Announces Eight New Programs Targeting High-Demand Careers

Introduction of practical job-relevant majors expands options for students post-graduation

Roberts Wesleyan University announced today the addition of eight new academic programs to provide students with expertise in high-growth areas and occupations. With an anticipated launch in fall 2024, these new traditional undergraduate offerings, which are based on labor and talent recruitment trends and projections of fast-growing occupations within the next decade, include Actuarial Science, Business Analytics, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Esports and Gaming Administration, Game Development, Information Technology and Neuroscience.

Through these expanded academic offerings, Roberts Wesleyan is strengthening its commitment to enabling student growth through flexible programming and immersion in career-enhancing experiences as they pursue their one-of-a-kind calling. These innovative academic tracks are designed to be job-focused and allow students to pursue a broader range of occupations in tech, science, business, data science and gaming.

The addition of all eight programs to the university’s catalog of comprehensive Christian education anchored in the liberal arts is possible through a partnership with the Lower Cost Models Consortium. The LCMC is a strategic collaboration of independent private colleges and universities nationwide to provide access to a cutting-edge curriculum that prepares students for successful careers.

“We are excited to offer these new majors that will provide career opportunities for students that most other small liberal arts colleges cannot offer,” said Dr. Laura Falco, dean of the School of Business and professor of marketing. “These new programs are relevant to today’s job marketplace, teach students the skills employers are asking for, and prepare them to be business-minded leaders with expertise in analytics and the esports and gaming industries.”

Academic offerings in these new areas will follow a hybrid model taught by expert faculty currently working in each field. Course curricula will focus on preparing students with transferable skills and knowledge to lead in these in-demand professions as they build a portfolio of applicable career-ready work to thrive in their chosen field after graduation.

“These new majors will provide students with an excellent portfolio of specialized degree options, allowing our graduates the opportunity to secure employment in these essential fields upon graduation,” Dean of the School of Natural & Social Sciences and Professor of Chemistry Dr. Jason Taylor said.

Enrollment for these programs is open and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Learn more about these new undergraduate programs or apply here.
