Barnes Science and Faith Symposium Oct. 16-18
The Barnes Science and Faith Symposium assists the Roberts and Northeastern communities develop an intellectual basis for understanding the principle that all truth is God's truth. The symposium will be held Oct. 16-18, 2024, on the Roberts campus and explore the often-perceived gap between science and faith, promoting a view that scientific and theological understandings can coexist harmoniously.
At this year's symposium, attendees will be led through exploring Creation Care & Justice with Dr. Sylvia Keesmaat, a biblical scholar, author, activist, and off-grid farmer.
All events are free and open to the public. Registration is not required except where noted.
About David and Avis Barnes
Dr. David S. and F. Avis Barnes have actively participated in the Roberts Wesleyan University community since 1970. Dr. Barnes, professor emeritus in biology, taught in the Division of Natural Science and Mathematics from 1970-2004. For many years he directed the Cultural Life Committee Lecture Series and arranged for over 200 guest speakers to present to students and faculty.
Avis Barnes taught for 30 years in the Pavilion School District and, upon retirement, has continued volunteering in the Rochester City Schools, tutoring needy students.
