Frequently Asked Questions

Our program prepares you for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certificate in Managerial Accounting (CMA) exams.

The 4+1 program also qualifies you for CPA licensure in New York State.

Accounting is “the language of business.” It involves managing, processing, analyzing, and interpreting all the financial information within a business.

Accounting involves the integration of foundational business concepts (like economics, management, marketing, and ethics) and the more technical aspects of accounting (such as data analytics, information systems, forensics, and audit and control).

The traditional route to becoming a CPA includes these steps:

  1. Earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
  2. Obtaining a master’s degree in accounting or another adjacent field, as the CPA, requires you to have 150 credit hours.
  3. Get accounting experience. This could be done by working as an intern in an accounting environment.
  4. Take the CPA exam and become a Certified Public Accountant.

A CPA is a Certified Public Accountant who has attained the proper licensure to practice accounting.

Roberts 4+1 program will result in:

  • A Bachelor’s in Accounting
  • A Master’s in Strategic Leadership
  • The 150 credit hours to become a CPA

According to the US Bureau of Labor, the median annual wage for accountants in 2021 was $79,880. The numbers will, naturally, differ by area, business, and position.
