Domestic Programs
A. Appalachian Semester
Roberts Wesleyan College has approved The Appalachian Semester operated by Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky. This intensive academic adventure in the fall semester combines extensive field experience in Appalachia with interdisciplinary seminars.
B. American Studies Program
American Studies Program (ASP) is offered through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The ASP's goal is to offer students opportunities for "interdisciplinary reflection on public life and vocation, practical marketplace experiences and community living." Students spend the semester in Washington D.C. and will first "develop an appreciation for how the integral character of biblical faith relates to thinking critically about public policy and marketplace issues, and second, to nurture a desire to take up responsible Christ-centered service in their personal and public vocations, whatever their career paths or walks of life." http://www.bestsemester.com/asp/overview/
C. Contemporary Music Center
Contemporary Music Center (CMC) is offered through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. "This interdisciplinary off-campus study program (in Nashville, Tennessee) provides a community for young musicians and aspiring music executives to plumb the depths of their creative souls and test the waters of a career in popular music. Designed as an artists' community, the program seeks to develop artists and music executives with a Christ-centered vision for music content, production and delivery. F. Focus on the Family Institute (FFI)
Each semester a limited number of Roberts Wesleyan College students may apply to study at Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado. Courses taken through Focus on the Family are taken as Roberts Wesleyan College courses and count toward degree requirements. http://www.focusleadership.org/
G. Wesleyan Urban Coalition
The Wesleyan Urban Coalition serves as a cooperative educational center linking the Olive Branch Mission in Chicago, Roberts Wesleyan College, and ten other Christian colleges and seminaries from the Wesleyan tradition. Credit may be earned through experiences offered by the Coalition during its three-week May mini-term or for a full semester. Students are involved in an internship placement (available in a variety of urban ministry, service, or pre-professional settings), coursework, and community life—including exposure to the broader ministries and staff of the Olive Branch Mission.
