Counseling Center

The Counseling Center at Roberts Wesleyan College strives to be a Christ-centered, grace-filled place of healing, growth, and learning.  Our Mission is to provide preventative and restorative mental health services to RWC students.  By doing this, we seek to maximize the health, well-being, and potential of those we serve.

Located in the Wellness Center (upper-level of the Voller Athletic Center), the Counseling Center is staffed by licensed mental health professionals who offer individual and group counseling services to students.  Our goal is to provide students with someone to listen to concerns, help them sort through their options, and to come up with some strategies for making things better.

Our counseling philosophy is built on the assumption that counseling must address the whole person as a physical, rational, emotional, sexual, social, and spiritual being.  We are indirect, in that, like Christ, we honor client self-determination.  We are direct in our approach in that we build upon the truths contained in the Word of God and lived out in the life of Jesus Christ.  We believe that counselors living their Christian faith in their practice make a difference.  Accordingly, we attempt to offer a variety of services relevant to an extended range of student and community concerns.  We strive to help our clients:

  • Develop a more integrated sense of self
  • Work towards individual meaning and purpose for their lives
  • Develop respectful and enduring relationships with others

These goals are sought in an atmosphere that is confidential, as well as comfortable, for all persons regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, or physical status.
