Transfer Admission
An applicant seeking admission to Roberts Wesleyan College after previously studying at another post-secondary institution will go through the regular admission procedure (application for admission and transcripts of college work completed or in progress). An official transcript must be sent to the Office of Admissions from the Registrar of all institutions previously attended.
For students from regionally accredited colleges and universities, credit is usually accepted for courses in which the grade is C- or above and is approved by The Office of Registration. Developmental courses, pre-college courses, and courses in some disciplines will be excluded. Course work from institutions not regionally accredited will be evaluated by the Chief Academic Officer, who will determine, within guidelines set by the College, how much, if any, credit can be awarded. Correspondence credits from accredited institutions may be accepted within limits set by the College. Transfer credit from baccalaureate degree programs is limited to 90 semester hours plus three hours of physical education credit. This includes advanced placement credit and credits earned through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). Credit earned in a graduate or postbaccalaureate degree program cannot be applied to an A.S., B.A., or B.S. degree.
If it is determined that an incoming student would benefit from academic support and guidance, he or she will be limited to 12-14 semester hours (full-time status) and may be required to meet with Learning Center personnel during his or her first semester. Such students will be reviewed by the Academic Guidance and Support Committee following the completion of the first semester to determine the necessary level of support needed for the next semester.
If a student has had a felony in the past five years, they will not be granted admission. Any student who has a criminal record from over five years ago will be asked to provide backgound on the online application and may be asked to meet with an Admissions office representative to discuss the instance further.
Nursing Transfer Requirements: To be accepted into Roberts Wesleyan College as a transfer student with a declared major of Nursing, a Minimum GPA of 2.50 in science, NSG courses and overall is required. In addition, such applicants should not have not been in a Nursing program at another college nor should they have taken any of the science prerequisites more than twice. Receiving acceptance into the College does not guarantee acceptance into the Nursing major.
Transfer students seeking junior year status should obtain information about the summer transfer program (consisting of NSG 101 during mid-summer, NSG 203 beginning in late July and NSG 102 and NSG 207 concurrent with spring junior year courses). To be eligible for this program, the transfer student must have completed the Nutrition, Developmental Psychology, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology requirements. Transfer students must meet the admission to the major criteria to be eligible for acceptance into the Nursing Major. Admission is on a space-available basis.
