SPECIFICS OF THE DIGITAL MEDIA ART B.S. DEGREE
Minimum Total Hours: 124
Total Liberal Arts Hours Required: 60
General Education Requirements: Per General Education list (see General Education Council). Exceptions: MUS 104 or FNA 102 (only one course is required and ART 101 is not permitted).
Minimum Requirements: Overall and major GPA of 2.0; no grade less than C- in the major.
Transfer Requirements: See institutional transfer policies. Transfers who intend to major in Art must submit a portfolio and meet with faculty before beginning art courses.
Application to the Major: Standard institutional major application form must be submitted by December 1 of the sophomore year. Application process will culminate with the Sophomore Review in the spring of the second year. A minimum overall and major GPA of 2.0 is required to be accepted and to remain in the major. If work is below a C, faculty will suggest a change of major.
Major Requirements: 63 hours
- 6 hours of foundations courses during first two semesters (ART 102 or 103, and 105);
- Art history course (ART 391 or ART 490);
- Upper-level issues course (ART 491) and both senior capstone courses (ART 496 and 497);
- 18 hours of Distribution Courses (CMC 201, 202, 310, 321, and 2 of the following courses: CMC 302, MKT 340, CMC 404, CMC 351);
- 6 hours of art electives in one studio area such as painting, printmaking, or ceramics;
- An 18-hour concentration including the following courses: ART 261, ART 270, ART 274, ART 275, ART 375, and ART 475.
