Academic Scholarships

Award amounts listed are for freshmen students enrolling for the first time at Roberts Wesleyan College in Fall 2019.  Please refer to previous catalogs for scholarship/grant awarding information for enrollment that began prior to Fall 2019.

Freshman Scholarships:

   B. T. Roberts Scholarship

Three students will receive a full-tution scholarship (minus other Roberts, federal, and state grants and scholarships).  Students must attend the Academic Scholarship Weekend on February 2-3 to be eligible for this award.  The award will be determined based on an interview during the weekend, an essay, SAT/ACT scores, and high school academic performance.  The three recipients of this award will be notified by March 5.

To attend the Academic Scholarship Weekend, a student must show evidence of strong academic performance in a college-preparatory program as indicated by SAT and ACT scores, high school courses, grade point average, class rank, etc.

   Trustee Scholarship - $20,000/year

The Trustee Scholarship awards $20,000 per year to recipients who are admitted as first-year students and represent character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College.  The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average. The following is the average criteria for Trustee Scholarship recipients:

Freshman Trustee Average candidate profile:

  • High School grade point average of 4.0
  • 1360 SAT (EBRW and math combined) or 29 SAT

*a higher test score may allow a student to still receive this award even if they have a GPA lower than 4.0.

New Canadian Students:

  • 88% average overall 

   Presidential Scholarship - $18,000/year  

The Presidential Scholarship awards $18,000 per year to recipients who are admitted as first-year students and represent character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College.  The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average.  The following is the average criteria for Presidential Scholarship recipients:

Freshmen Presidential Average candidate profile:

  • High school grade point average of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • 1200 SAT (EBRW and math combined) or 25 ACT

*a higher test score may allow a student to still receive this award even if they have a GPA lower than 3.8.

Canadian Students:

  • 84% average overall

   Dean’s Scholarship - $16,000/year

The Dean’s Scholarship awards $16,000 per year to recipients who are admitted as first-year students and represent character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College.  The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average.  The following is the average criteria for Deans Scholarship recipients: 

Freshmen Dean's Average candidate profile:

  • High School grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • 1030 SAT (EBRW and math combined) or 20 ACT

*a higher test score may allow a student to receive this award even if they have a GPA lower than 3.5

*Test optional candidates are eligible to receive the Deans Scholarship

New Canadian Students:

  • 80% average overall

   Founder's Scholarship - $12,000/year

The Founder's Scholarship awards $12,000 per year to recipients who are admitted as first-year students and represent character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College.  The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average.  The following is the average criteria for Founder's Scholarship recipients:

Freshman Founder's Average candidate profile:

  • High School grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
  • 1000 SAT (EBRW and math combined) or 19 ACT

*A higher test score may allow a student to still receive this award even if they have a GPA lower than 3.2.

New Canadian Students

  • 76% overall average

   National Merit Scholarship

The Roberts Merit Scholarship awards full-tuition scholarships (minus other RWC, federal, and state grants and scholarships) to National Merit Scholar Finalists.

This award is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average.  The following criteria apply to first-time freshman applicants:

  • National Merit Scholar Finalist for full-tuition
  • Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College

Transfer Scholarships:

   Presidential Scholarship - $18,000/year -Phi Theta Kappa/Honors

For those starting as a first-time transfer student in Fall 2019 and beyond, the Presidential Scholarship awards $18,000 per year to recipients whose character is consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average. Recipients must be applying and enrolling as a first-time transfer starting in Fall 2017 or beyond and they must fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • Member of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) - must provide membership certificate to Admissions
  • Member of Monroe Community College Honors Institute- must provide member certificate to Admissions

   Dean’s Scholarship - $16,000/year-Cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher

For those starting as a first-time transfer student in fall 2019 and beyond, the Dean’s Scholarship awards $14,000 per year to recipients whose character is consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College.  Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.600-4.00 at the most recent college attended full-time.  The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average.

   Director’s Scholarship - $14,000/year - Cumulative GPA of 3.30 to 3.59

For those starting as a first-time transfer student in fall 2019 and beyond, the Director’s Scholarship awards $14,000 per year to recipients whose character is consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College.  Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 to 3.59 at the most recent college aggended full-time.  The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average.

   Founder's Scholarship - $12,000/year - Cumulative GPA of 3.0 to 3.29

For those starting as a first-time transfer student in fall 2019 and beyond, the Founder's Scholarship awards $12,000 per year to recipients whose character is consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College.  Recipients must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0-3.29 at the most recent college attended full-time.  The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 2.80 cumulative grade point average.
