Requirements for the Associate's Degree

The Associate of Science degree is offered in Natural Science and Physical Science.

Academic Requirements

To qualify for an associate's degree conferred by Roberts Wesleyan College, the candidate must present the following:

  1. A minimum of 62 semester hours.
  2. A cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher and a minimum major GPA of 2.00 with no grade less than C- in those courses offered to fulfill the requirements of the major.
  3. 30 hours of liberal arts credit.
  4. A recommendation by the faculty of the academic department in which the major is taken.
  5. Of the last 30 semester hours of the program, 27 semester hours must be taken at Roberts Wesleyan; or alternatively, within the last two semesters, 27 semester hours must be earned at Roberts Wesleyan.

Students are expected to complete this course within the first two semesters of matriculation.  A minimum grade of C- is required.

Fine Arts

Choose one  of the following:
ART 101 or a non-liberal arts studio course [2, 3], or MUS 104 [2], or FNA 102 [2]

GED 100 

First-Year Seminar [2]
Required of all first-year students. 

History, Economics, or Social Sciences Electives [6]

PED 130  Personal Wellness [1]

PHL 202  Philosophical and Ethical Issues [3]

* The number in brackets indicates semester hours

Students have only one opportunity to participate in Commencement ceremonies.  If a student is eligible to participate in a given Commencement, they must participate in that Commencement and not wait for a later Commencement date.

Diplomas are not issued until all academic requirements and financial obligations have been fulfilled.

Once a degree has been conferred, the academic transcript and GPA are frozen.  Subsequent course work and grades will be applied to a new transcript. Any requests for updates or changes to the first transcript (such as grade changes) will be denied.
