Global Honors Program
The Global Honors Program incorporates scholarship, service, and spiritual formation – all components of the Roberts Wesleyan College mission statement – and uses a combination of academic work in the classroom, experiential learning, service learning, and independent scholarship.
Students take courses focused on Global Studies in their freshmen and sophomore years. At the end of the sophomore year, they will participate in an on-location course where they will apply concepts from the classroom.
Admission to Program
Admission to the Global Honors Program is by invitation. Accepted students meeting the following criteria are invited to complete an application:
- Evidence of strong academic performance in a college-preparatory program as indicated by SAT and ACT scores, high school courses, grade point average, class rank, etc.
- Demonstration of strong writing skills as evidenced in English scores and writing samples.
Students meeting these criteria will be invited to the Academic Scholarship Celebration. Students attending this event will complete the application process for the Global Honors Program at the event.
Program Requirements
Students must maintain a cumulative 3.4 grade point average and successfully complete all coursework. Students whose grade point average falls below a 3.4 will be placed on probation for one semester. Students whose grade point average falls below 3.4 for two consecutive semesters will be removed from the program.
Each Global Honors Program participant is required to pay a Program Fee of $250 per semester.
With the exception of the on-location course, courses replace general education requirements. Successful completion of the six courses in the program (18 credits) will result in a Honors Program Diploma and a Global Studies Minor.
