Homeschooled Students
Roberts Wesleyan University welcomes homeschooled students. Homeschooled students apply according to the regular freshman application process and submit either the Roberts Rapid Application or the Common Application. Homeschoolers completing courses at a local public school or college should have their official transcripts sent directly to the Office of Admissions.
Homeschool students who are New York State residents must prove their "Ability to Benefit" (ATB) from higher education to become eligible for the NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Presently, the SAT, ACT and CLT are not acceptable ATB tests. One of the following is required to meet these requirements:
- NYS High School Diploma or other recognized equivalent.
- A passing score on a federally approved ability-to-benefit test identified by the NYS Board of Regents (Accuplacer, ASSET, COMPASS) and independently administered and evaluated by the Commissioner of Education. Roberts offers the Accuplacer test on its campus for the convenience of our homeschooled students. To schedule Accuplacer testing contact the Learning Center.
- A record of a prior (post-secondary) degree earned by a student
- Completed 24 semester hour credits in specified subjects as a recognized candidate for a degree in an approved (accredited) institution of higher education (6 credits of English, 3 credits of Math, 3 credits of Natural Science, 3 credits of Social Science, 3 credits of Humanities, and 6 credits applicable to the student's program).
