Graduation Honors

Upon recommendation of the Academic Guidance and Support Committee, by vote of the faculty and approval of the Board of Trustees, the University awards honors at Commencement. Traditional students are recognized with Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Summa Cum Laude. Consideration for these honors is on the basis of the following:

  1. Grade point average
    A. Cum Laude - grade point average ranging from 3.50 to 3.69
    B. Magna Cum Laude - grade point average ranging from 3.70 to 3.89
    C. Summa Cum Laude - grade point average ranging from 3.90 to 4.00
  2. Residence - A student must have completed at least 60-62 semester hours (depending on whether the degree program being pursued requires 120 or 124 total credits) at Roberts Wesleyan University.
  3. Recognition of these honors during Commencement ceremonies is based on the student’s grade point average at the end of the previous semester. However, transcript record of such honors is based on the student’s final grade point average.

Dean’s List

The Dean’s List is comprised of students who have attained high distinction in scholarship during a given semester. The required semester grade point averages for all traditional undergraduate students are the following: Dean’s high, 3.50 - 3.69; Dean’s higher, 3.70 - 3.89; Dean’s highest, 3.90 - 4.00.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must have completed at least 12 hours of grades generating quality points for the semester, with all work complete so that calculations can be made on the day semester grades are released. Students with an Incomplete do not qualify for the Dean’s List.
