Minors
Music Minor
The Music minor requires completion of 18 semester hours, including 6 semester hours in theory and/or music history. MUSC 1910 does not count towards these 6 hours but may count as elective credits within the minor. No more than 8 semester hours of ensemble may be elected, and not more than 10 semester hours in applied music may be elected to fulfill requirements for the minor.
Jazz Minor
The Jazz minor requires 21 hours as follows:
- 8 credits of Music Theory (MUSC 1101, 1102, 2102, 2103)
- 4 credits of Music/Jazz History (MUSC 2301, *1910, 2302, 2303 or 3703)
- 4 credits of Jazz Theory and Arranging (MUSC 3702 and 3703
- 4 semesters of Jazz Improvisation (MUSC 1027)
- 4 semesters of Jazz Ensemble Participation (MUSC 1090, 1092)
*MUS 104 is recommended for non-music majors minoring in Jazz.
Theater Minor
The Theater minor requires 21 hours as follows:
- 18 hours of core courses: THTR 2100-History of Theater, THTR 2200-Acting I, THTR 2300-Script Analysis, THTR 2400-Stagecraft, COMM 3310-Oral Interpretation, Diction and Delivery, LITR 3030-Shakespeare;
- 3 hours of electives from: FNAR 1200-Intro to Dance, MUSC 4611-Musical Stage Production, THTR 4500-choose any combination of the following: RWU student production (1), RCT (1), off-site practicum (1).
