Academic Scholarships
These scholarships are effective for students who entered for the 2009-2010 academic year or after. Other students please refer to the 2008-2009 catalog for Academic Scholarships.
Roberts Merit Scholarships
The Roberts Merit Scholarship awards full-tuition scholarships (minus other RWC, federal, and state grants and scholarships) to National Merit Scholarship finalists and half-tuition to semi-finalists who demonstrate character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College. The award is renewed annually, provided the student maintains a 3.40 cumulative grade point average. These scholarships are only for students who are first-time, full-time freshman at RWC.
Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship – Full Tuition
The Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship was established to honor the founder of the College. The College awards three of these scholarships yearly. Recipients receive full tuition annually (minus other RWC, federal, and state grants and scholarships). The award is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average. Returning students may not earn their way into this scholarship. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshmen:
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- Minimum SAT 1250 (math and verbal combined) or 28 ACT
- Rank in the top 15% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
- Starting in 2011-12 the SAT score will be based on all three sections combined
New Canadian Students:
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- 85% average overall
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
*Students must participate in the Invitational Scholarship Competition; if they are not chosen to receive a Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship, they will receive either the Trustee Scholarship or the Presidential Scholarship.
Trustee Scholarship - $11,000/year
The Trustee Scholarship awards $11,000 per year to recipients. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. Returning students may not earn their way into this scholarship. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshmen:
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- Minimum SAT 1250 (math and verbal combined) or 28 ACT
- Rank in the top 15% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
- Starting in 2011-12 the SAT score will be based on all three sections combined
New Canadian Students:
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- 85% average overall
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
*Students must participate in the Invitational Scholarship Competition. This award will be given to the top half of each group who are not chosen for the Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship.
Presidential Scholarship - $8,000/year
The Presidential Scholarship awards $8,000 per year to recipients. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. Returning students may not earn their way into this scholarship. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshmen:
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- Minimum SAT 1250 (math and verbal combined) or 28 ACT
- Rank in the top 15% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
- Starting in 2011-12 the SAT score will include all three sections combined
New Canadian Students:
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- 85% average overall
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Transfer Students:
- Membership in Phi Theta Kappa or cumulative grade point average of 3.60-4.00 at most recent college attended full time, at the point your financial aid awards are made
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
*Students must participate in the Invitational Scholarship Competition. This award will be given to students who do not receive a Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship or Trustee Scholarship.
Dean’s Scholarship - $6,000/year
The Dean’s Scholarship awards $6,000 per year to recipients. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Returning students may not earn their way into this scholarship. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshmen:
- Minimum SAT 1150 (math and verbal combined) or 25 ACT
- Rank in the top 20% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
- Starting in 2011-12 the SAT score will include all three sections combined
New Canadian Students:
- 80% average overall
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Transfer Students:
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.30-3.59 at most recent college attended full time, at the time your financial aid awards are made
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Valedictorian Scholarship - $1,000/year
The Valedictorian Scholarship is an automatic $1,000 per year scholarship, in addition to any other academic awards given (with the exception of any full tuition scholarship). Roberts Wesleyan reserves the right to make changes to this award in cases where the graduating class is less than 50. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
- Valedictorian status
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Note: Renewal of an academic scholarship is based on the cumulative grade point average calculated at the end of the fall semester. For example: renewal of an academic scholarship for juniors who entered as freshmen is based on the cumulative grade point average calculated at the end of the fall semester of their sophomore year.
