Homeschooled Students
Roberts Wesleyan College welcomes homeschooled students. Homeschooled students will follow the regular freshman application process and submit either the Roberts Rapid Application or the Common Application. Homeschoolers completing courses at a local public school or college should have their official transcripts sent directly to Roberts. Homeschool students may apply for admission through the test optional process if they have completed 12 or more college credit hours. If not, homeschooled students will submit their SAT or ACT or CLT score to the Office of Admissions.
Homeschool students who are New York state residents must prove their "Ability to Benefit" (ATB) from higher education to become eligible for the NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Presently, the SAT, ACT and CLT are not acceptable ATB tests. One of the following are required to meet these requirements:
- NYS High School Diploma or other recognized equivalent.
- A passing score on a federally approved ability-to-benefit test identified by the NYS Board of Regents (Accuplacer, ASSET, COMPASS) and independently administered and evaluated by the Commissioner of Education. Roberts offers the Accuplacer test on its campus for the convenience of our homeschooled students. To schedule Accuplacer testing contact the Office of Admissions or the Learning Center.
- A record of a prior (post-secondary) degree earned by a student
- Completed 24 semester hour credits in specified subjects as a recognized candidate for a degree in an approved (accredited) institution of higher education (6 credits of English, 3 credits of Math, 3 credits of Natural Science, 3 credits of Social Science, 3 credits of Humanities, and 6 credits applicable to the student's program).
